Abstract

Homesickness is a problem among students at many universities. Few studies have examined this phenomenon and its relationship with cellphone involvement, resilience,
social integration, and academic integration. Employing a cross-sectional survey methodology with stratified sampling at a university in Thailand found that a structural
equation model was able to explain 36 percent of the variance of homesickness (n = 220). Through improving academic and social integration, resilience, and decreasing cellphone involvement, steps can be taken to lessen the impact of homesickness upon students.
