Abstract

he purpose of this research is to study the role of Thai women with emphasis on Thai history in social aspeats in the Ratanakosin period. The survey was done on important primary and secondary sources. This paper discusses the role and social life of Thai women and the responsibilities of women in families as being wives and daughters. Changes after the declaration of constitution on 1932 are observed. The paper discusses the women in law with emphasis on the family law in the Ayutthaya period, Kodmai Tra Sam Duang in the Ratanakosin period and the revision of law which gave equal rights to women. Emphasis is on the role of rural women in economics. Economic responsibility of women in agricultural society are as important and equal to men. After World War ll women became more involved in industry and business, At the present, women have more opportunity to resume equal position to men and are more accepted in society.
