Factors related to consumption behavior of elderly women in Bangkok toward ready-made clothes

The purposes of this research were to investigate: 1) the consumption behavior of elderly women in Bangkok toward ready-made clothes; and 2) factors associated with the consumption behavior of elderly women in Bangkok toward ready-made clothes. A multistage random sampling technique was used to draw a sample of 420 elderly women. A questionnaire was use for data collection. Cronbach’s alpha reliability analysis was 0.79 and 0.77. Analysis utilized percentages, means, and the Chi-squared test. The findings were: 1) the elderly women sometimes practiced all aspects of ready-made clothes consumption behavior. 2) The personal data associated with the ready-made clothes consumption behavior of elderly women were: a) age was associated with need recognition and information search; b) the level of study was associated with purchase; c) occupation was associated with need recognition and purchase; and d) income was associated with purchase and post-purchase evaluation; 3) Social factors were not associated with the elderly women’s ready-made clothes consumption behavior; and 4) marketing factors associated with the elderly women’s readymade clothes consumption behavior were statistically significant at the .01 level.
