Simulation Model Formulation For a Farm Production System
Abstract
Due to complex interrelationships among variables within an on-farm production system agricultural development policies, although being applied to certain variables of the system A System Dynamic model, in the form of mathematics equations, contains all the relevant variables linked together into a system network. The model, a representative of the real system, serves as a development planning laboratory. Its feedback structure enables the tracing of the system behaviors step-by-step through time, from which comprehensive comparisons among the consequences of alternative policies can be performed. This paper describes briefly steps in model formulation and the general structure of the model of the on-farm production system in Chanasutr Land Consolidation Project. Samples of the policy-testing results will be discussed to show how the model can be used in policy decision making.
