Land and Land Refrom.
Abstract
Land has become one of the major problems facing Thailand at the present time. Though there is a vast area of land in the country, a large size of it has been left unutilized for the agricultural and other fruitful purposes. The major problems concerning land in Thailand may be seen in various dimension such as a smaller size of land holding for agriculture, a growing number of those agriculturists who have no lands for cultivation, an increasing number of land tenancy, a more serious deforestation and an increasing number of land conflicts. As such, it is necessary to undertake land reform as an important step in sovling the land problem. Thailand’s Land Reform for agriculture started in 1975. The government has made a great effort to solve this problem by setting up Land Reform Office and allotting a huge sum of budget each year for this purpose. Most of Land under land reform project is scattering Throughout the country. In spite of various efforts made to eliminate the land problem, still prevailing some suggestions in order to increase effectiveness in land reform project. The government should be serious and honest in land reform project. People should be understanding, showing readiness and sacrificial to the project. And finally a legal measure should be firm in dealing with this matter.
