Abstract

KU Journal published by Kasetsart University Research and Development Institute (KURDI) serves as a means to disseminate research outcomes of faculty members, staffs, students and non-university members with normal standardization. The numbers of qualified academic articles not only indicate the academic status and achievement of Kasetsart University but also illustrate the university research potentials as well as academic service to society which are major function of universities in Thailand. There are 259 contributors with the same fundamental characteristics: gender, age, period of official appointment, and academic positions. Reasons to the contribution are verified as follows: 1) propagating new knowledge to public, 2) featuring in academic position achievement, and 3) achieving reputation and academic recognition. Researchers who are contributors are satisfied with the Journal. On the other hand, there are several reasons for those never took part (n=149) in the contribution of the Journal as follows: 1) unknown of the procedure for submitting articles, 2) availability of other media for propagation, and 3) lack of research works. A solution for these problems should be setting up the appropriate policy and strategy so as to encourage and inspire new contributors in the future.
