Ceremony Flower Related with Lanna Custom : Case Study in Chiang Mai Province

Abstract

The purpose of this research were to investigate backgrounds and objectives in selecting floral ceremony related to Lanna custom, a case study of Chiang Mai province. Sample consisted of 100 experts who able to decorate the floral ceremony and 42 experts in ceremony and convention. Structural interview and photoestechnics were instruments for collecting data. Data were analyzed by categorizing into groups. Discriptive explanation for result were as follows: - Background for using the floral ceremony related with Lanna convention was getting merit and emerging the will power to family and themselves on the way of life, including the expression to gratefulness for primogenitor or benefactor. Selecting for using floral ceremony related Thai Lanna convention was to seek within local because it was easy to provide, good-smell, good-meaning, auspicious name and emerge as season. While, yellow and red flowers were favorite colors except some subcustom because they believed that red color look like menstruation of female. So,they didn't decorte ceremony with red flower. Whenever flowers weren't avaiable, leaves and dried flowers were substituted.
