Abstract

Research is an important tool in any kinds of industrial development. In horticulture can lead to wide development such as producing new crop varieties, originating technologies used in production process. There are various kinds of researches adapted for the needs of users. Basic research that are scientically oriented are usually conducted by scientists who are more specialized in any particular problems. Empirical researches are usually conducted by growers and horticulturists through trials and errors from their observations in the fields. Adaptive researches are conducted in the fields under the growing conditions of the crops by horticulturist and extension people. The users or growers can choose to utilize any outcome of these 3 levels of researches for their needs. The importance of researches, problem in obtaining financial support and examples of successful research results enhancing horticultural industry are outlined in this paper.
