A Study of Lilit Taleng Pai Literature Written by Somdej Phra Maha Samana Chao Krom Phra Paramanujitinorosa for Teaching Thai Language.

This historical research studied Lilit Taleng Pai written by Somdej Phra Maha Samana Chao Krom Phra Paramanujitajinorosa, a specific chapter in Wannawijuk Book II, a Thai text book for Mathayomsuksa V. There are 12 sections as follows : Verse, Event of Pegu, Phra Maha Uppraracha moving troops to Kanchanaburi, Somdej Phra Naresuan mentioning to fight Combodian, Somdej Phra Naresuan preparing to fight Pegu army, Somdej Phra Naresuan preparing troops, Phra Maha Uppraracha planning a war and then moving troops to fight against Thai Vanguard, Thai Vanguard withdrawing Royal army moving, Phra Naresuan and Phra Agatossarot’s elephants being among enemies, Fighting on the backs of the elephants and Victory of Thai, Phra Naresuan building a stupa and remuneration for soldiers, Somdej Phra Wannarat asking for an apology, including other documents concerning with teaching Thai Language. It is found that a specific chapter of Lilit Taleng Pai, a historical literature in Thai textbook for Mathayomsuksa V contains the following literary element: plot, characters, language, theme and form. The aesthetics can be seen in content, diction, play on words, puns and rhythm whose sounds and meanings are perfect. In addition, The aesthetic values are inbeded in form whose unity is properly complied with the content of its literary, knowledge, tradition, ceremony of wars, moral precept and Buddhist faith. It also helps to implant readers to be loyalty to the nation, religion and the king. Therefore these selected episodes are appropriate for senior high school students.
