The Opinions of Students, Team Managers or Coaches, and Student Affairs Administrators toward the Competing of the 13(th) University Sports of Thailand

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study the opinions of students, team managers or coaches, and student affairs administrators on the results of the 13(th) University Sports of Thailand affected upon (1) various traits of student development, (2) higher education institutions, (3) the problems concerning the 13(th) University Sports of Thailand, and (4) the proper way of organizing the University Sports of Thailand. The sample under study consisted of 1,726 students, 349 athletes, 92 team managers or coaches, and 7 student affairs administrators. The data was collected by a questionnaire and then analyzed through SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences). The results of the study were as follows : (1) the 13(th) University Sports affected upon the student development in “great level” in learning to work with others, developing sporting spirit, promoting mental health, and increasing self - confidence; (2) the University Sports also affected upon higher education institutions in “great level” in increasing the royalty, the unity, and the fame of the institutions; (3) the problems concerning the 13th University Sports were : the lack of athletes, the lack of qualified referies and umpires, the lack of budget, the lack of cooperation and support from faculty members and students, (4) the proper ways of organizing the University Sports was to organized the University Sports annually with a seven - day duration during October or November.
