Abstract

A study was conducted to determine what relationships, if any, exist between the results of the University Entrance Examination in English (UEE in English) an those of the English Placement Test (EPT) and of the Foundation English Achievement Test (FEAT) of freshmen at Kasetsart University in 1989 and 1990. Findings revealed that there was a high positive correlation both between the results of the UEE in English and those of the EPT and between the UEE in English results and the FEAT results. (r=.84 and r=.87 respectively). However, the study showed that the correlation between the EPT results and those of the FEAT was lower than that between the UEE in English and the FEAT results. In addition, when a multiple regression analysis was used to determine the best predictor of results in the FEAT, the UEE in English was found to be a better predictor than the EPT.
