The Process of Organizing Koom for Rural Development.

Abstract

After the government has changed the conceptual framework of development the man-centred one, Thai rural Mu-Ban in five Changwat of Suphan Buri, Nakhon Ratchasima, Maha Sarakham, Chiang Rai and Nakhon Si Thammarat were subdivided into small Koom. The process of organizing Koom, its impacts and problems in those area was studied by a survey method. The sample size of 110 persons were those who connected with Koom. Primary data was collected by interviewing and the questionnaire was used. The findings were as follows : The concept of organizing Koom had been transferred from government officials to people of grass-root level whose acception of such an innovation was in accordance to the Adoption Theory. The performance of Koom as an informal organization was satisfactory and beneficial. Factors associated with the successful Koom were Koom’s members and leaders. The sample insisted that Koom should be organized in other villages together with good preparation.
