Efficiency of School-Based Management of Basic Educational Institutions Under the Jurisdiction of the Office of Nakhon Pathom Education Area 1

The purposes of this research were: 1) to study the level of efficiency of school-based management [SBM] of basic educational institutions under the jurisdiction of the Office of Nakhon Pathom Education Area 1, 2) to compare the level of the efficiency of the basic educational institutions regarding to school size and school location, and 3) to study how to enhance the efficiency of SBM for basic educational institutions under the jurisdiction of the Office of Nakhon Pathom Education Area 1. The sample was 108 basic educational institutions. A questionnaire and focus group technique were used for data collection. The data were analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation, one-way ANOVA, t-test and content analysis from a focus group. The findings were as follows:
1. The overall SBM efficiency of the basic education institutions under the jurisdiction of the Office of Nakhon Pathom Education Area 1 was at a high level. When individual aspects were analyzed, the highest levels of efficiency were self-management, decentralization, people empowerment on educational management. participation, check and balance respectively.
2. The comparison between the schools' SBM efficiency regarding to schools' different sizes and locations revealed no significant difference.
3. Suitable measures to enhance the SBM efficiency of the basic education institutions under the jurisdiction of the Office of Nakhon Pathom Education Area 1 were 1) to develop administrators, teachers, and school councils about educational management regarding to participation of all the involving people, 2) to enhance planning system, team building, work assigning, educational resource finding, decision-making, evaluation, educational quality assurance, internal audit, public relations, law counselor appointment and 3) to establish administrative networks to support financial management.
