Development of a Workshop Curriculum on Environmental Education Project for Teachers of Schools Surrounding The Boundary of Dong-Yai Wildlife Sanctuary, Buri Ram Province

The objective of this research was to develop a workshop curriculum on Environmental Education Project for teachers of school surrounding the boundary of Dongyai Wildlife Sanctuary Buriram Province. The sample group was 36 science teachers from 14 schools surrounding the boundary of Dongyai Wildlife
Sanctuary Buri Ram Province. The process of the research was divided into four steps.The first step was an assessment of the training needs, documentary review of the previous research studies including theories, concept and research findings. This led to the construction of research questionnaires. A test of this research tool was held with 46 teachers. The second step was a preliminary designing of the training curriculum structure and components, based on the results of the survey training needs.The third step was a detailed curriculum design including (1)establishment of the objectives based on the training needs,(2) identification and selection of contents,(3) identification and selection of training techniques, and (4) evaluation of the training. The training curriculum was formulated. It was then reviewed and justified by four experts in the field of environmental education and education.The fourth step was implementation and evaluation of the training curriculum. A course training program was launched for 14 school in Buriram province on 1-4 May 2005 and 11-12 July 2005. All the trainees were given the pre-test and post-test questionnaires to assess of their knowledge, and given the satisfy questionnaires for assessing the training program. Analysis of the data revealed that the post-test scores of the teachers were higher than that of the pre-test with a high statistical significance at the .05 level. Furthermore,most trainees were satisfied with stage 1 of the training program at the high level and stage 2 of the training program at the highest level. It can be concluded that this training curriculum is appropriate and may be applied to other groups concerned.
