Attitude Toward Home Economics Profession of Kasetsart University Students and Graduates in Home Economics Education

The purposes of this research were to investigate: 1) motives to study and home economics information receiving; 2) attitude toward home economics profession; 3) the comparison of students' and graduates' attitude toward home economics profession. Data were collected, using a questionnaire, from 90 sampled students and 157 sampled graduates. Data were analyzed to obtain percentage, mean, standard deviation, and one way analysis of variance. The results showed that most of the students were motivated to study in home economics education at moderate level. Regarding home economics information receiving, students and graduates revealed that they received home economics information at moderate level. Nearly half of the students participated in home economics academic activities 1 - 2 times per year, whereas half of the graduates never involved in such activities. Concerning attitude toward home economics profession, the findings revealed that students and graduates had positive attitude toward home economics profession in overall and in all aspects. The hypothesis testing showed no statistically significant difference of attitude toward home economics profession between students and graduates. According to motives and information receiving, students with higher motives indicated significantly more positive attitude toward home economics profession than those with lower motives. The results showed that students and graduates who received more home economics information had significantly more positive attitude toward home economics profession than those who received less information.
