Durian Central Wholesales Market for Export Model on the Expectation of the Wanlueng Durian Quality Improvement for Exportation Group Members Chanthaburi Province

The objectives of this study were to determine 1) some personal background of Wanlueng Durian Quality Improvement for Exportation Group members, Chakthai sub-district, Khao Khitchakut minor-district, Chanthaburi province, 2) their durian cultivation characteristics, 3) their expectation towards durian central wholesales market for export model, 4) the relationship between some personal background of group members with their expectation towards durian central wholesales market for export model, and 5) their constraints and recommendations in durian central wholesales market for export model development. Population was 46 Wanlueng Durian Quality Improvement for Exportation Group members, Chakthai sub-district, Khao Khitchakut minor-district, Chanthaburi province. Semi-structure interview schedule was obtained to collect data. Descriptive statistics were frequency, percentage, arithmetic means, standard deviation, and correlation. The findings indicated that mostly major occupation was orchard cultivation. Average household income was 427,606 baht per year. Average durian cultivation land tenure was 22 rai (3.52 hectares). Most popular durian varieties were "MONTHONG" and "KRADOOM". Average durian cultivation experience was 20 years. Most found knowledge source was neighboring. Most concerned production was high cost of input. Almost of them sold their products at wholesales market in the community. Most concerned marketing was less power for bargaining. All 8 proposed durian central wholesales market for export model were expected by majority of respondents. Including regulations and rules towards physical aspects, regulations and rules towards barter aspects, regulations and rules towards facilitator aspects, external features standardization, internal features standardization, post harvesting standardization, packaging standardization and mark and brand name aspects. Factors related to durian central wholesales market for export model on the expectation of group members were durian cultivation land tenure, income, number of cultivated varieties, number of farm sources perception, and frequencies of their training. Recommendations were 1) Research and development for new technology that appropriate for cultivated land and also group building promotion for transfer cultivation technique should be provided continuity. 2) Group building promotion for fertilizer and pesticide should be concerned. 3) Appropriate input used should be promoted. 4) Low interest sources should be served. 5) Durian central wholesales market for export model at least 71 sub-items should be considered. 6) Group building promotion for marketing perception should be conducted. 7) Perception development in term of academic discussions in the village and local media application should be concerned.
