The Development of Mathematics Ability in Solving Problems for Prathomsuksa 2 Students at Kasetsart University Laboratory School by Using Polya's Problem Solving Process
Keywords:
mathematical problem solving, mathematics problemsAbstract
The purposes of this research were 1) to develop the mathematics ability in solving problems for Prathomsuksa 2 students, and 2) to construct varied and appropriate mathematics problems for Prathomsuksa 2 students. The sample was 39 students of Prathomsuksa 2/2 at Kasetsart University Laboratory School, Centerfor Educational Research and Development who enrolled in the second semester of the 2007 academic year. The sample was selected by cluster sampling from 7 classrooms. The research instruments were 1) the mathematics problem solving learning plans by using Polya's problem solving process, and 2) the mathematics problem solving test. The research results were as follows: 1) the mathematics problem solving abilities of Prathomsuksa 2 students after using the Polya's problem solving process was significantly higher than before using at the .05 level, and 2) the constructed mathematics problems were varied and appropriate for Prathomsuksa 2 students.
