Teaching Thai literature about Khun Chang Khun Phaen in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam

Abstract

This research article aimed to illustrate the significance of the literature “Khun Chang Khun Phaen” in teaching Thai literature in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The research found that Thai literature about Khun Chang Khun Phaen is a media for teaching Thai literature at higher education in Vietnam. This literature has been selected to educate in many subjects related to foreign and Thai literature, which is a part of the teaching Thai language for Vietnamese. Moreover, the literature Khun Chang Khun Phaen is also a source of information of research studies for Vietnamese scholars, as studying about the differences between Thai literature and Vietnamese will show the distinctive characteristics and the importance of Thai literature. The comparision of Khun Chang Khun Phaen to the Vietnamese literature, “The Tale of Kieu” will demonstrate the difference in lifestyle, perspective and behavior between two countries. Furthermore, it will make the understanding of Thai social, culture, way of living, especially the importance of the Thai King, become easier.
