Development of Social Welfare for The Elderly in Sisaket Municipality, Sisaket

Abstract

   The objectives of this study were 1.to examine the demand and provision of social welfare for the elderly in the Sisaket Municipality, Sisaket and 2.to develop the development of social welfare for the elderly in the Sisaket Municipality, Sisaket. Samples comprised 365 elderly people in the Sisaket Municipality area. The sample size was calculated from Taro Yamane's. The tools used to collect data included questionnaires and interview forms. The statistics used to analyze data comprised of frequency, percentages, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis. The results presented the following: 1.Overall level of demand for social welfare provision among the elderly in Sisaket Municipality  was intermediate. The sections with the highest means included housing, social and family stability, recreation, and support services and networks. The section with the lowest mean was health. For housing, the issue with the highest mean was the need for basic utilities provided in a residential area, such as drinking water, electricity, and clean water. For social and family stability, the issue with the highest mean was an income tax deduction for children who take care of elderly family members. For recreation, the issue with the highest mean was the organization of activities on holy days, such as making merit and public services availability. For income, the issue with the highest mean was budget support for the elderly. For support services and networks, the issue with the highest mean was the need for caring by community volunteers. For health, the issue with the highest mean was an annual health examination for the elderly. And 2.For the development of social welfare for the elderly in the Sisaket Municipality in terms of housing, accommodations should be provided for certain groups, such as the homeless elderly. For social and family stability, advice and knowledge should be provided including legal services to secure rights and welfare. For recreation, sports clubs for the elderly should be established with activities such as Petanque and chess. For income, visits should be organized both in the province and other provinces. For support services and networks, lifelong education should be provided for the elderly. For health, health care knowledge should be provided.
