A Study of the spreading Characteristics of Bao Qingtian’s Stories in Thailand

This paper mainly uses the method of documentary analysis, by compiling, collating and analyzing the literatures and academic articles related to Bao Qingtian’s stories in Chinese and Thai, and sorting out and categorizing the spreading process and ways of Bao Qingtian’s stories of in Thailand , in order to study the spreading characteristics of Bao Qingtian’s stories from ancient to today in Thailand. The study found that the spreading of Bao Qingtian in Thailand has the following characteristics: Firstly, It is a spreading process from word – of - mouth to text, then to film and television, and finally to network; Secondly, it is a spreading process from unconscious to conscious; Furthermore, it is a spreading process that from Chinese dialect to Thai language; Fourthly, it is a spreading process from people to upper class and then back to people; Fifthly, the audiences of Bao Qingtian's stories in Thailand have gradually expanded from the Chinese community in Thailand to the Thai community; Lastly, the translators of Bao Qingtian's stories have gradually changed from the Chinese who are proficient in Thai to the Thais who are proficient in Chinese. This study can provide a deeper understanding and insight into the process of the spreading and reception of the Bao Qingtian’s stories in Thailand; it can also provide a new perspective and reference for studies on the spreading of other Chinese literary works in Thailand.
