Brahmavihara :Dhamma Principle in palliative nursing care

Abstract

The primary objective of this article is to present the Dhamma principles in taking care of patients as well as creating deeper understandings by applying Brahmavihara 4 precepts in tending and treating terminal stage patients through palliative nursing care. In which the treatment aims at holistically sustaining the pain and suffering as well as supporting these terminal stage patients with an optimistic mindset in their last moments of life. Consistently, nurse practitioners should make practical use of the Dhamma principles in wholeheartedly performing their professions with their kindheartedness, sympathy, amiability, and unprejudiced in taking care of their clients i.e. patients and their relatives. By consciously realizing their human dignity and respect their values of life while performing their practices with compassion delicacy and  aid both the individual patient and their relatives. Consequently, these feelings of sympathy would advocate understanding towards the nature of life and bring out best attitudes in their profession. Mainly comprising of moral and ethics and the consciousness in valuing themselves, their impacts and their expertise based on their compassion which would result in enabling these practitioners to aid palliative patients in their terminal stage to depart peacefully.
