Buddhist Methods Of Using Natural Media And Enlightenment

Abstract

The objectives of this research article are as follows; 1) to study the meaning and importance of natural media, 2) to study Buddhist method in using natural media, 3) to analyze

attainment through Buddhist natural media which had been compiled from relevant documents and research and then analyzed to find link between various contents in each chapter to meet the objectives.

The results of research were found that 1) Natural medium was doctrinal element that was a state of ordinary stability. There were variations around human beings and within human beings. Nature was available everywhere. There was no place devoid of nature. The application of things nearby as a medium to learn and understand Buddhist principles more easily was therefore important in the learning process.

2) The Buddhist method of using natural media as teaching aids had existed since the time of the Buddha and the equipments needed no investment for new invention because it was naturally present everywhere. In addition, the Lord Buddha chose to use natural media in order to get the most benefit, taking into account the type of learners or listeners.

3) Analysis of enlightenment was the success or attainment of the goal in Buddhism beginning from the understanding of Buddhist doctrines at the first level, that is, the mundane level until the understanding of Buddhist doctrine at the unworldly level, that is, the supra-mundane level. The Buddha used natural media in the process of human training and development to attain enlightenment at various levels
