Focus and Scope
The National Defence Studies Institute Journal aims to disseminate knowledge and academic advancements in the field of security studies. The journal focuses on the following areas:

Peer Review Process
- All submitted manuscripts must undergo a peer review process by at least two qualified reviewers in relevant fields. The journal follows a double-blind peer review system, in which the reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and the authors do not know the identity of the reviewers.
- Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by other journals or publications.
All content—including articles, opinions, illustrations, and tables—reflects the views and sole responsibility of the authors and does not represent the position of the National Defence Studies Institute.
- The editorial board reserves the right to accept or reject any manuscript submitted for publication.

Article Processing Charges (APC)
- There is no publication fee for articles submitted to the National Defence Studies Institute Journal, as the journal is financially supported by the institute. Each manuscript is reviewed by two qualified peer reviewers. If the author wishes to request a third reviewer, an additional fee of 1,000 THB (one thousand baht) will be charged to cover the honorarium of the additional reviewer.

Journal History
The National Defence Studies Institute Journal was first published in fiscal year 2010, beginning with Volume 1, Issue 1 (October 2009 – January 2010) on a four-month publication cycle.
In 2015, the journal was evaluated by the Thai Journal Citation Index Centre (TCI) and was officially listed in the TCI database as a Tier 2 journal under the third round of quality assessment (2015–2019).
In 2016, during the second evaluation round of the same phase, the journal was upgraded to Tier 1.
In 2020, during the first round of the fourth assessment cycle (2020–2024), the journal was reclassified as Tier 2, valid through December 31, 2024.
In 2021, during the second round of the same assessment cycle, the journal maintained its Tier 2 status through December 31, 2024.
According to the TCI’s announcement, journals will be eligible for reassessment in 2025.
From Volume 7 onwards, the journal changed its publication schedule to follow the calendar year (January – April, May – August, September – December).
Later in 2022, the publication cycle was revised to a biannual schedule (January – June, July – December) to enhance the quality and efficiency of publishing.
The journal continues to focus on disseminating knowledge and scholarship in the field of Comprehensive Security, covering the following areas:
