Factors Affecting Safety Behavior of Pilots and Aircraft Technicians in Army Aviation Center

Abstract

This article is a part of thesis concerning factors affecting safety behavior of pilots and aircraft technicians in Army Aviation Center. The purposes of this research were 1) to study the pilots and aircraft technician’s safety behavior in the Army Aviation Center (AAC); 2) to compare the pilots and aircraft technician’s safety behavior in AAC; and 3) to study the impact of the factors affecting the safety behavior of the pilots and aircraft technicians in AAC. The data were collected by using the Yamane circulation method and through a questionnaire which was distributed to 689 pilots and aircraft technicians in AAC. There were 392 valid data samples returned. The data were analyzed by factor analysis and multiple regression analysis.

The data revealed that the pilots and aircraft technicians in AAC had a high level of safety behavior. The data specifically found that safety behavior was the highest ranked factor. The data also revealed that the different personal factors had no statistical significance on safety behavior. There was a positive impact on safety behavior of the pilots and aircraft technicians in AAC with a statistical significance.
