Abstract
บทความนี้เป็นการนำเสนอและวิเคราะห์สมุดปกขาวการป้องกันประเทศของญี่ปุ่น “Defense of Japan 2024” ที่ได้ถูกตีพิมพ์โดยกระทรวงกลาโหมของญี่ปุ่นในเดือน กรกฎาคม ค.ศ. 2024 เพื่อเป็นการอธิบายจุดยืนและกำหนดนโยบาย ด้านการป้องกันประเทศของตน โดยเป็นการตอบสนองกับสถานการณ์โลกที่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรวดเร็วและมีความ ตึงเครียดเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง
ญี่ปุ่นที่กลายสภาพเป็น “รัฐแนวหน้า” ในการเผชิญหน้าของสองชาติมหาอำนาจและถูกรายล้อมด้วยภัยคุกคาม ทั้งจาก รัสเซีย จีน และเกาหลีเหนือ ได้ปรับตัวกลับมาให้ความสำคัญกับการเสริมสร้างสมรรถนะทางทหารอีกครั้ง นอกจากนี้ ญี่ปุ่นยังมีการขยายความร่วมมือด้านความมั่นคงกับชาติพันธมิตร เช่น สหรัฐอเมริกาที่เป็นชาติพันธมิตรที่สำคัญที่สุดของ ญี่ปุ่น ไปจนถึงชาติพันธมิตรในภูมิภาคซึ่งรวมถึงออสเตรเลีย เกาหลีใต้ และชาติในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้อย่างไทย ซึ่งญี่ปุ่นถือว่ามีความสัมพันธ์ที่ยาวนานและแน่นแฟ้นกับตน
