บทคัดย่อ

          บทความชิ้นนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษารูปแบบเครื่องแต่งกายของทหารไทยในสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ ๕ โดยรูปแบบเครื่องแต่งกายมีความเปลี่ยนแปลงไปจากสมัยรัตนโกสินทร์ตอนต้น ซึ่งสืบทอดรูปแบบมาตั้งแต่สมัยอยุธยา เครื่องแต่งกายในสมัยรัชกาลที่ ๕ มีลักษณะคล้ายกับทหารยุโรป  เนื่องจากในสมัยนั้นสยามตระหนักถึงการแผ่ขยายอำนาจของจักรวรรดิตะวันตก จึงทำให้ประเทศไทยต้องปรับปรุงตัวให้เข้ากับสถานการณ์ โดยเฉพาะเครื่องแต่งกายของทหารไทยนั้นบ่งชี้ให้เห็นถึงการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพสังคม และวัฒนธรรมที่ได้รับอิทธิพลจากยุโรปได้อย่างเป็นรูปธรรม ทั้งนี้บทความชิ้นนี้ได้เน้นให้เห็นถึงนัยสำคัญทางการเมืองที่ส่งผลกระทบให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงเครื่องแต่งกายทหาร และรูปแบบของเครื่องแต่งกายในสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ ๕ พระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวรัชกาลที่ ๖ และพระบาทสมเด็จพระปกเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ ๗

ABSTRACT

          The objective of this article was to study the pattern of Thai Military Uniform in the reign of King RAMA the 5^th. Due to the pattern of Thai military uniform has changed from the period of Early Ratanakosin Era which was inherited from Ayudhaya period. The character of Thai Military uniform in the reign of King RAMA the 5^th was close to European military uniform . During King RAMA the 5^th, the Kingdom of Siam realized of Western’s power and strength spread. Therefore, Kingdom of Siam had to adjust its country governance to suit with the environment situation. Especially, military uniform as one of Thai custom had to be improved since it was the crucial indicator of Thai social and cultural condition which was influenced from Western Europe concretely. The study was emphasized on the political significance which affected the military uniform and the various classification of Thai military uniform in the reign of King RAMA the 5^th, 6th and 7^th.
