Providing Collaborative Learning Activities to Enhance Volunteer Motivation for the Students in Instruction and Individual Differences Class

Abstract

The aims of this study were 1. to investigate the outcomes of the collaborative learning activities to enhance volunteer motivation for the students in Instruction and Individual Differences class. and 2. to investigate the students were satisfied with what they got from participating in the collaborative learning activities to enhance volunteer motivation of students in Instruction and Individual Differences class. The participants were the 16 randomly chosen undergraduate students who enrolled in Instruction and Individual Differences (01166421) in the second semester of the academic year 2021 at Kasetsart University and voluntarily participated. This study was a quasi-experimental study involving only one experimental group with dependent variables measured both before and after a treatment. The research instruments consisted of 1) a learning activity plan; a unit for organizing activities for children with special needs 2) a volunteer motivation assessment form 3) a questionnaire for satisfaction of the students participating in the study. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and the Dependent -Sample t-test was used to test the difference in scores. The research findings indicated that 1) Students who participate in the collaborative learning activities to enhance volunteer motivation had the scores from a volunteer motivation assessment after the treatment were significantly higher than before the treatment at .05. 2) the students were satisfied with what they got from participating in the study at the highest level in all aspects. The top 3 with the highest mean were the provided activities that encouraged the students to create a group thinking process and more interpersonal communication ( = 4.81). The provided activities contributed to the volunteer motivation of the students ( = 4.69). The provided activities supported students to help each other ( = 4.69). This shows that Collaborative Learning Activities it can enhance volunteer motivation as well.
