Models of Educational Institutions on Applied Multicultural Policies For the Promotion of ASEAN Identity

Abstract

The research aims to develop the Models of Educational Institutions with a focus on cultural diversity in ASEAN and to formulate the said foundation for governmental officials. The study is mainly conducted as a mixed method which are qualitative research through participatory action research (PAR) and the quantitative research. The main key informant is school representatives under the project of Spirit of ASEAN from four regions of Thailand. The main finding of the research is to explore the process of school models through data collection of relevant staffs and experts in different areas following the interdisciplinary approach. The final output is the ASEAN Cultural Study consisting of six modules which are 1) similarities and differences in ASEAN, 2) equality, 3) impact of globalization as well as the anthropology tools such as 4) societal and cultural maps, 5) kinship diagram, and 6) local history. The said approach can be implemented in three different models: curriculum, program and project-based study through the CIPPA model, Executive Management, and Community relation. The main aim is to promote the cultural diversity in ASEAN through the local learning source.
