A Perspective on Service Learning through Field Experience: Happy Home Ward Innovation Project Khao Pra Ngam Tessaban Lopburi Province

Abstract

According to National Service Learning Clearinghouse, service learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility and strengthen communities. In this article, understanding and knowledge about learning service occurring through a field experience in the community were revealed. Community engagements through partnership with Khao Pra Ngam Tessaban, Lopburi province for two years were reflected. Data were collected by observation, interview and discussion with a community partner. The findings revealed both positive and negative aspects of service learning. The analysis of the real characteristics of service learning in this community in order to enhance the innovation design was also presented.
