About the Journal

Publication Policy and Scope

The Journal of Transport and Maritime Law is published by the Institute of Transport and Maritime Law, Faculty of Law, Thammasat University. The Journal is founded upon the recognition of the importance of various modes of transportation—by sea, air, road, rail, and multimodal transport—as essential mechanisms for the economic and social development of the country.

The Journal aims to promote research, academic study, and the dissemination of scholarly knowledge, as well as to encourage academic dialogue and the exchange of ideas in the field of transport law and related areas of legal studies. Its scope includes, but is not limited to, maritime law, aviation law, carriage of goods, multimodal transport, and the prevention of pollution arising from ships, aircraft, and other vehicles.

The Journal seeks to contribute to academic advancement and to provide scholarly services for the benefit of society.

Publication Schedule

The Journal of Transport and Maritime Law is published biannually (two issues per year) as follows:

  • Issue 1: January – June

  • Issue 2: July – December

Types of Contributions Accepted for Publication

The Journal accepts the following categories of scholarly works:

  1. Academic Articles
    Articles presenting theoretical and/or practical legal analysis or critique that contribute to legal knowledge or its practical application.

  2. Research Articles
    Articles derived from legal research, systematically presenting specific research findings in the field of law.

  3. Case Notes (Case Analysis)
    Analytical writings examining and commenting on judicial decisions.

  4. Legal Notes / Legal Commentary
    Short pieces discussing noteworthy or emerging legal issues.

  5. Book Reviews
    Reviews introducing and critically discussing noteworthy legal publications.

  6. Conference or Seminar Reports
    Summaries of conferences or academic seminars relating to transport law and maritime law.


Peer Review Process

All academic articles and research articles are subject to review by at least two qualified experts in the relevant field through a double-blind peer review process.

If an author wishes the manuscript to be reviewed by three reviewers, the author must notify the editorial board at the time of submission. No additional fee will be charged for such a request.
