Abstract

Qualitative research, especially in the social sciences field, is related to the informants' societies and cultures that may affect their life or communities. Therefore, a researcher needs to be aware of the ethical aspects of this form of research. This academic paper had the objectives to present the characteristics of qualitative research and ethical risks, ethical issues in qualitative research at each step of the research, principles for protecting privacy and confidentiality, principles of informed consent, principles of beneficence and justice, and a case study of the use of research ethics in qualitative research.
