AN ANALYAIS OF FINANCIAL LITERACY OF THE STUDENTS AT KASETSART UNIVERSITY SRI RACHA CAMPUS

The purposes of this research study are to study the financial literacy levels of the students, to analyze the factors that determine level of financial literacy and to investigate the relationships among the financial knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of the students. This study is a survey research study. The questionnaires were administered to the 400 Bachelor’s degree students of Kasetsart University, Sri Racha Campus. The statistics were mean, median, One-way ANOVA and multiple regression. It was found that the generally financial knowledge levels were moderate. The personal finance knowledge levels were low. The generally financial attitude levels were moderate. The generally financial behavior levels were good. Studying in the business administration field, the students had the good financial knowledge and attitudes. The male students had the financial knowledge levels higher than that of the female students, but their financial behavior levels were lower than that of the female students. The students with the low monthly incomes had the financial attitudes better than that if those with the high monthly incomes. In this study, there was no relationship between the parents’ characteristics and the students’ financial knowledge and behaviors. However, it was found that the parents’ educational levels had the positive effects on the students’ financial attitudes. The findings of this study were consistent with the framework stating that the financial knowledge and attitudes had the positive effects on the financial behaviors.
