CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS THAT ESSENTIAL FOR INDUSTRIAL LABORS IN THE 21ST CENTURY

This research article aims to analyze and synthesize critical thinking skills essential for industrial labors in the 21st century. The author emphasized the study of the concepts, theories, components and processes of critical thinking. Additionally, the study points out the benefits and importance of applying a critical thinking approach to work and daily life. The industrial labors in the 21st century are currently facing severe physical health, mental health and economic crises. It has become a challenging and demanding task. They must strive to be the best choice and be prepared for every industry sector. The results of the study found that critical thinking skills that were important and essential for industrial labors included: 1) thinking based on cause and effect; 2)judiciousness and thoroughness; 3) comprehensive assessment of the options before making decision; 4) seeking evidence to support the ideas; 5) finding and discriminating in-depth analysis of the truth; 6) seeking for knowledge and information; 7) asking questions in order to find the right answer; 8) thinking differently; 9) thinking logically; and 10) Inferential thinking for the purpose of reasoning and proof. While, the components of critical thinking included analysis, synthesis, problem identification, problem solving, inferential assumptions leading to proof and evaluation, critical thinking process started with defining the problem and considering the data to analyze the problem and find solutions, leading to decision making. The importance and benefits of critical thinking were to equip the labors at all levels with the ability to connect various facts and ideas logically and to promote systematic problem-solving.
