SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND FUTURE PROSPECT OF WASTE RECYCLING FOR THE ECO-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS IN HUANGPU DISTRICT, SHANGHAI PROVINCE
Abstract
This research aims to explore and analze sustainable environmental changes in Huangpu district, Shanghai province from 2019 to 2023. The scope of the study focuses on recyclable waste generated from household waste in Huangpu District, Shanghai province. This research applied a mixed-method research approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative data were collected through surveys to analyze the current situation of waste separation or sorting over the past few years. The qualitative data were gained from interviews and literature analysis to investigate the impacts of waste sorting on Eco-friendly product design. The researcher found that since 2019, there was an increase in efficient waste sorting or separation in households in this area. Recyclable materials in Shanghai Huangpu District were mainly waste paper, metal scraps and plastic waste, accounting for approximately 80% of waste. This contributed to an increase in recycling rates and supported the development of Eco-friendly product design. The main objectives of Eco-friendly products were to reduce the waste, promote the resources of reuse and reclycle. The study summarized the importance of theoretical and practical studies of waste sorting and recycling, identified limitations and shortcoming and suggeted sustainable development and trends in waste recycling for the development of Eco-friendly products in Huangpu District, Shanghai province
