TEACHERS' PERCEPTIONS OF THE TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS UNDER THE YALA PROVINCIAL OFFICE OF NON-FORMAL AND INFORMAL EDUCATION

This research aimed to: 1) examine the level of transformational leadership among school administrators under the Yala Provincial Office of Non-Formal and Informal Education; 2) compare teachers’ perceptions of school administrators’ transformational leadership according to gender, educational level, and work experience; and 3) synthesize recommendations for developing the transformational leadership of school administrators. The population consisted of 266 teachers under the Yala Provincial Office of Non-Formal and Informal Education. The sample comprised 158 teachers, determined using the Krejcie and Morgan table and selected through simple random sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire consisting of three sections: respondents’ general information; a five-point rating scale measuring four dimensions of transformational leadership-idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration; and open-ended questions regarding recommendations. The overall reliability coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.78. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, an independent-samples t-test, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA).
The findings revealed that: 1) the overall level of school administrators’ transformational leadership was high. Among the four dimensions, idealized influence and inspirational motivation received the highest mean scores, whereas individualized consideration received the lowest mean score; 2) teachers with different genders, educational levels, and work experience did not differ significantly in their perceptions of school administrators’ transformational leadership at the 0.05 level; and 3) the major recommendations emphasized that school administrators should strengthen inspirational leadership, promote professional development, encourage the integration of technology and educational innovation, and pay greater attention to individual differences in order to enhance the effectiveness of school administration
