Digital Leadership of Thai School Administrators: The Key to Transforming Schools in the AI Era

Abstract
In the era where artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies play a crucial role in education, the digital leadership of school administrators has become a decisive factor in transforming Thai schools to meet the challenges of the 21st century. This academic article aims to analyze the digital leadership of Thai school administrators as a key to educational improvement in the AI era, in alignment with relevant national education policies. The paper reviews related literature to identify key components of digital leadership—such as digital vision, technology management, development of staff digital competencies, as well as the use of AI innovations in learning management. It then offers a policy analysis linking the digital leadership framework with Thailand’s Ministry of Education Operational Plan 2025, the National Education Plan 2017–2031, and the Basic Education Development Plan 2023–2027. The analysis indicates that digital leadership is a critical enabler for translating policies into practice—from promoting future skills for learners and integrating AI in schools, to elevating the quality of administrators, teachers, and educational personnel. The paper provides policy recommendations for enhancing the digital leadership of Thai school administrators and synthesizes new knowledge in the form of a conceptual framework connecting digital leadership with the direction of Thai education policies in the digital and AI era, which serves as a guideline for transforming Thai schools to be future-ready.
