Cost and Return of Economic Crops in Agroforestry Garden of Eastern Phi Pan Nam Mountain Range in Uttaradit Province

Abstract

          The objective of this research is to 1) analyze the cost of economic crops in agroforestry garden of Eastern Phi Pan Nam Mountain Range in Uttaradit Province 2) analyze the return of economic crops in agroforestry garden of Eastern Phi Pan Nam Mountain Range in Uttaradit Province 3) compare between the cost of economic crops in agroforestry garden of Eastern Phi Pan Nam Mountain Range in Uttaradit Province and the national average cost. This study used qualitative research comprising of Semi-structured interview form and in-depth interview. The sample group used in this study are farmers who grew economic crops on the area of agroforestry garden in Ban Dan Nakham, Mae Phun and Nang Phaya district. It can be indicated 39 samples using  purposive sampling as a tool for sample selections. The statistics used were frequency and percentage. Cost and return analysis comprised Discounted Payback Period (DPP), Net Present Value (NPV), Benefit Cost Ratio (B/C Ratio) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR).

         The research found that 1) production cost of economic crops in agroforest garden (durian, longkong, langsat and coffee) during the project period 20 years found  that Mae Phun district exhibits the highest overview of production cost was 227,118.64 baht. 2) the analysis of returns, it was found that all 3 districts showed payback period within 12 - 14 year, NPV is positive, the B/C Ratio is more than 1 and IRR value is higher than 7 percent discount rate. 3) the comparison of the cost of economic crops in agroforestry garden and the national average cost, only the production cost of longkong has a higher value than the national average cost.
