Chemical Engineering Students’ Attitudes toward the Current English Language Curriculum Taught by Native Speakers at Maptaphut Technical College, Rayong

The objective of this study was to investigate the attitudes of chemical engineering students toward the current English curriculum taught by native speakers, and to develop guidelines to strengthen the current course for the technical engineering program and other programs at Maptaphut Technical College, Rayong. A sampling of 75 chemical engineering students in the academic year 2013 was used. In addition, the study instrument was a rating scale questionnaire and the data were analyzed using the SPSS computer program. The study concludes that the sampled students demonstrate a positive attitude toward the English language curriculum taught by native speaking teachers. However, this curriculum could be more effective and strengthened if it were to include the needs of the industry and the individual concerning the use of English.
