Abstract

This research aims to study the development of learning achievement on principles of computer programming of 2nd year vocational certificate students with the objectives of 1. developing learning achievement on the principles of computer programming by using 7-step inquiry-based learning (7E) for Vocational Certificate (Vocational Diploma) students Year 2  and 2. assessing students' satisfaction with the use of 7-step inquiry-based learning management (7E) to develop knowledge on computer programming principles. The sample group in this research was 2nd year vocational certificate students, department of Business Computer which were 14 people acquired by the purposive selection. The tools used in this research consisted of: 1) learning management plan for the course code 20204-2004 Principles of Programming on Principles of Computer Programming  by using a 7-step inquiry-based learning management (7E) for 1 lesson plan, totaling 6 hours in semester 1, academic year 2022, 2) the test on principles of computer programming is a multiple-choice type with 4 options, 15 items which passed a quality check to find the Index of Concordance (IOC). The basic statistics used in the research were mean and standard deviation.

The research results showed that: 1. Fourteen students had the developmental results before and after learning. The mean was 14.64 and 25.50 respectively, and the standard deviation was 2.32 and 1.55 respectively out of a ftotal score of 30 points. The comparison results of learning achievement before and after learning with 7-step inquiry-based learning management (7E) on principles of computer programming indicated that the learning achievement after learning with 7-step inquiry-based learning management (7E) on principles of computer programming increased significantly at the 0.05 level.  2. Students' satisfaction with the use of 7-step inquiry- based learning management (7E) to develop the knowledge of computer programming principles was at a high level.
