Knowledge Management Based on Community Capital for the Conservation of Phet Rose Apple: A Geographical Indication Product of Phetchaburi
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article presents the concept of knowledge management based on community capital for the conservation of Phet Rose Apple, a popular fruit of Phetchaburi province that resulted from the accumulated local community wisdom from past to present. The climate and the geographical location of Phetchaburi contributed to the sweet taste and crunchy texture of the Phet Rose Apple that has been registered as a geographical indication product under the department of intellectual property. Phet Rose Apple is an economic fruit that contributes to the income and pride of the plantation gardeners in Phetchaburi; however, to maintain the standard of the quality and the breeding of the fruit, the gardeners need to have the specific knowledge as well as to invest time and resources in the process. Thus, knowledge management based on community capital; human capital, social capital, physical capital, and natural capital, is important and necessary for the gardeners, community leaders and related parties in the empowerment of the community in the conservation of Phet Rose Apple.
