What English Teachers Should Know before Writing Teaching Materials

Abstract
The purpose of this academic paper was to build awareness for English teachers who want to design and develop their own teaching materials. The paper presented problems found from evaluating teaching materials, followed by proposing 3 main points when developing teaching materials: needs analysis, language description, and learning theories. Besides, important points such as 21st century skills of learners and cultural issues in language learning were mentioned.
