ระบบการประเมินราคาอัญมณีในศาสตร์แห่งอัญมณีอินเดีย

บทคัดย่อ
ความคิดเรื่องการค้าอัญมณีเป็นหนึ่งในสารัตถะของศาสตร์แห่งอัญมณีอินเดีย บทความวิจัยนี้มุ่งศึกษาภูมิหลังและลักษณะของระบบการประเมินราคาอัญมณีในศาสตร์แห่งอัญมณีอินเดียโบราณ ภายใต้ประเด็นสำคัญ 3 เรื่อง คือ 1) ที่มาของการกำหนดมาตรฐานราคาอัญมณี 2) ลักษณะและความสัมพันธ์ของหน่วยต่าง ๆ ที่ใช้ในพิกัดราคาอัญมณี 3) วิธีการประเมินราคาอัญมณี ในที่นี้ศึกษาเฉพาะการประเมินราคาเพชร แหล่งข้อมูลหลักในการวิจัยมาจากรัตนปรีกษาในวรรณคดีสันสกฤต 3 เรื่อง ได้แก่ พฤหัตสํหิตา ของ วราหมิหิระ, ยุกติกัลปตรุ ของ พระเจ้าโภชะ และศุกระนีติสาระ ของ ศุกราจารย์ และได้นำข้อมูลจากอรรถศาสตร์ของเกาฏิลยะและมนุสมฤติมาใช้อธิบายข้อค้นพบในงานวิจัยด้วย ผลการศึกษาแสดงให้เห็นว่า มาตรฐานราคาเพชรในศาสตร์แห่งอัญมณีอินเดียมีลักษณะเปลี่ยนแปลงไปตามยุคสมัย ทั้งในแง่ของอัตราราคา ระบบชั่งตวงวัด และระบบเงินตรา นอกจากนี้ ธรรมเนียมการใช้หน่วยชั่งและหน่วยเงินตราในการซื้อขายอัญมณีก็มีทั้งความสืบเนื่องและความเปลี่ยนแปลงมาโดยตลอด ก่อนที่จะเปลี่ยนไปใช้มาตรฐานการค้าอัญมณีแบบสากลในยุคปัจจุบัน
