The Design and Development of a teak wood Foldable Chair for 28-40 SQM Residences to Promote Woodwork and Furniture of Small -and- Micro- Community Enterprise: A Case Study of Baan Donmun Group in Phrae Province

Abstract
This research have 3 objectives are under considerations as: 1) To design and development a teak wood foldable chair for 28-40 SQM residences 2) To try and find out the opinions of 6 expertises who are expert in academic in furniture design, expert in professional furniture design and expert in production.
3) To try and find out user satisfaction towards the folding chair prototype the sample group was the new generation population, educated, with an average income per person of about 25,000 baht per month, living in housing projects, townhouses, condominiums with a usable area of 28-40 SQM. Location areas are Suvarnaphumi airport nearly, Ladkrabang, Minburi Bangkok and Bangplee, Bangsaothong Samutprakarn. The research methodology has three steps as: Step I) Study to design and development a wooden folding chair was considering in Theory of Michael Thonet (Wilk,1980) and John F. Pile (Pile,1978). Researcher created tools of research are questionnaire and sketch design folding chair 3 designs evaluate by 6 expertises who expert in academic in furniture design, professional in furniture design and expert in production. Step
2) Strength test ISO 7173 Industry Standardization by the Furniture and Composites Industry Development Division of Industrial Ministry. Step 3) To try and find out user’s satisfaction, sample group was 60 persons. Tools of research methodology are a prototype of a folding chair and questionnaire. All of users 60 persons tested folding chair by sitting and answered to consider in questionnaire.
The results are: Six Expertises evaluation a folding chair (type C) in 6 factors were function, aesthetic, structures & folding mechanism, materials, easy - production and cost of production. average 4.52 the meaning is very good. Strength test results according to industrial standardization ISO 7173 Level 2. The result of user’s satisfaction, users 60 persons evaluate in 5 factors were aesthetic form, function, strong structure, materials, and reasonable price average 4.56 the meaning is very satisfaction.
