บทคัดย่อ
         การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาพัฒนาการ ความเป็นมา และการเปลี่ยนแปลงรูปแบบอาคารและกิจกรรมของ
ตลาดหัวตะเข้ตั้งแต่อดีตถึงปัจจุบัน เพื่อนำมาสรุปถึงปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงรูปแบบอาคารและกิจกรรมของตลาดหัวตะเข้ โดยใช้การค้นคว้าข้อมูลจากเอกสาร การสำรวจ และการสัมภาษณ์เป็นหลัก จากการศึกษาพบว่า ในอดีตตลาดหัวตะเข้เกิดขึ้นในบริเวณจุดตัดของคลองประเวศบุรีรมย์ โดยมีอาคารเรือนแถวไม้ตั้งขนานอยู่บริเวณริมสองฝั่งคลองประเวศบุรีรมย์และพัฒนากลายเป็นตลาดชุมชนริมน้ำที่มีบทบาทเป็นศูนย์กลางทางการค้าที่สำคัญของเขตลาดกระบัง และในละแวกใกล้เคียง แต่ภายหลังการพัฒนาของเทคโนโลยี ประกอบกับเหตุการณ์อัคคีภัยที่เกิดขึ้นบ่อยครั้ง ทำให้กิจกรรมทางการค้า และอาคารเรือนแถวไม้ซบเซาและเสื่อมโทรมลงไป จึงสามารถสรุปได้ว่า ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงของรูปแบบอาคารและกิจกรรมของตลาดหัวตะเข้ คือ ที่ตั้งที่มีความเหมาะสม และการพัฒนาการคมนาคมขนส่ง เนื่องจากการเกิดของตลาดหัวตะเข้ เริ่มต้นมาจากการพัฒนาคมนาคมทางน้ำ ซึ่งทำให้ตำแหน่งของตลาดหัวตะเข้กลายเป็นจุดตัดและมีความเหมาะสมในการค้าขายจึงเกิดการสร้างอาคารและกิจกรรมการค้าขายขึ้นในบริเวณนี้ ประกอบกับการไม่มีคู่แข่งทางการค้า ทำให้มีผู้เข้ามาใช้บริการภายในตลาดหัวตะเข้มากยิ่งขึ้น นอกจากนี้เหตุการณ์อัคคีภัยเป็นส่วนหนึ่งที่ทำให้แนวอาคารเรือนแถวไม้ถูกทำลายด้วยเช่นกัน แต่เนื่องจากความเจริญ จึงเกิดการสร้างอาคารขึ้นใหม่เพื่อตอบรับกับความต้องการในการค้าขาย อย่างไรก็ตามเมื่อการคมนาคมทางน้ำได้ลดบทบาทลงไป การที่มีคู่แข่งทางการค้าเพิ่มสูงขึ้นได้ส่งผลให้ตลาดหัวตะเข้ซบเซาลงในที่สุด รวมถึงเหตุการณ์อัคคีภัยในยุคซบเซาทางการค้า ที่สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความต้องการทางการค้าที่ลดน้อยลงเนื่องจากไม่มีการสร้างอาคารขึ้นทดแทน ด้วยเหตุนี้ปัจจัยทางกายภาพจึงเป็นปัจจัยหลักที่ส่งผลต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงรูปแบบอาคารและกิจกรรมของตลาดหัวตะเข้
โดยมีปัจจัยทางเศรษฐกิจ และปัจจัยทางสังคม เป็นปัจจัยรองที่ส่งผลต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงด้วยเช่นกัน

Abstract
        This study aimed to investigate the development, history and the changes of building patterns and activities at Hua Ta Khae Market from the past to the present to draw the conclusion about the factors affecting the changes in building patterns and activities at Hua Ta Khae Market. The investigation was mainly conducted by document research, surveys and interviews. The results indicate that Hua Ta Khae Market in the past was located at the intersection of Prawet Burirom Canal and surrounded by the wooden houses along the both sides of the canal. Later on, it became the waterfront community market which was the significant trading center in Lad Krabang District and neighborhood community. After the development of technology and the fires that frequently occurred, the trade activities were decreased and the wooden houses got old. It could be concluded that the factors affecting the changes in building patterns and activities at Hua Ta Khae Market included the suitable location and the development of transportation. Since Hua Ta Khae Market initiated from the water transportation, the location of Hua Ta Khae Market was at the intersection suitable for trading. As a result, many buildings and trading activities arose in this area. In addition, since the market had no competitors, the consumers came to Hua Ta Khae Market more and more. However, the fires were a part that destroyed the buildings. Due to the civilization, new buildings were constructed to respond to the trade demand. Later on, when water transportation became less important, the market eventually became less prosper. The fires occurring during the slow trade period reflected the decrease of trade demand since there was no construction of new buildings to replace the old ones. As a result, the physical factors were the main factors affecting the changes in building patterns and activities at Hua Ta Khae Market while the economic and social factors were sub-factors affecting the changes.
