บทคัดย่อ
บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาวิวัฒนาการและการประยุกต์ใช้แนวคิดเรื่อง “รูปแบบ” (Type) และ “การจำแนกประเภท” (Typology) ในงานสถาปัตยกรรมสมัยใหม่ของ เลอ กอร์บูซิเย โดยวางอยู่บนกรอบแนวคิดทางทฤษฎีที่ได้รับอิทธิพลจากนักคิดสามท่านในประวัติศาสตร์ ได้แก่ คัตรแมร์ เดอ ควินซี (Quatremère de Quincy), ฌอง-นิโกลาส์-หลุยส์ ดูรองด์ (Jean-Nicolas-Louis Durand) และ ก็อตต์ฟรีด เซมเปอร์ (Gottfried Semper) งานศึกษานี้มุ่งชี้ให้เห็นว่าหลักการสมัยใหม่ของเลอ กอร์บูซิเย โดยเฉพาะ “หลักการห้าประการ” (Five Points of Architecture) นั้นไม่ได้เป็นการปฏิเสธทฤษฎีดั้งเดิม แต่เป็นการตีความใหม่ที่กลั่นกรองจากรากฐานของแนวคิดประเภททางสถาปัตยกรรม โดยเน้นการวิเคราะห์กรณีศึกษา 3 แห่ง ได้แก่ วิลล่า ซาวอย (Villa Savoye), ยูนิเต ดาบิตาซิยง (Unité d’Habitation) และ โบสถ์นอเทรอดาม ดู โอต์ (Chapelle Notre-Dame du Haut, Ronchamp)
วิธีวิจัยที่ใช้ในบทความนี้เป็นการวิเคราะห์เชิงคุณภาพ โดยอาศัยกรอบการวิเคราะห์จากทฤษฎีสามชุด คือ 1) แนวคิด “รูปแบบเป็นหลักการนามธรรม” ของคัตรแมร์ ที่เน้นความหมายและรากฐานทางวัฒนธรรมของแบบสถาปัตยกรรม 2) แนวคิด “การจัดองค์ประกอบอย่างมีเหตุผล” ของดูรองด์ ซึ่งมุ่งสู่การสร้างระบบและโมดูลาร์ที่สามารถประยุกต์ใช้ได้ในบริบทต่าง ๆ และ 3) ทฤษฎี “องค์ประกอบสี่ประการ” ของเซมเปอร์ ที่เชื่อมโยงรูปแบบสถาปัตยกรรมเข้ากับวัฒนธรรม วัสดุ และความหมายเชิงสัญลักษณ์ การศึกษานี้จึงมิได้มุ่งเพียงการสำรวจรูปแบบทางกายภาพ แต่เน้นการอ่านเชิงแนวคิดและการตีความที่สอดคล้องกับบริบทของยุคสมัยใหม่
ผลการศึกษาแสดงให้เห็นว่า กรณีศึกษาแต่ละแห่งเป็นตัวแทนของการแปรความแนวคิดประเภทในลักษณะที่แตกต่างกัน โดยวิลล่า ซาวอย เป็นการใช้หลักการห้าประการในลักษณะอุดมคติ ซึ่งสะท้อนอิทธิพลจากแนวคิดนามธรรมของคัตรแมร์ และระบบองค์ประกอบของดูรองด์ ยูนิเต ดาบิตาซิยง แสดงการประยุกต์รูปแบบไปสู่ระบบการอยู่อาศัยแบบกลุ่มในระดับเมือง ผ่านการใช้ระบบโมดูลาร์ที่พัฒนาโดยดูรองด์ ผสานกับเทคโนโลยีการก่อสร้างสมัยใหม่ ส่วนโบสถ์นอเทรอดาม ดู โอต์ แสดงให้เห็นการกลับคืนสู่แก่นของความหมายในงานศาสนาสถาปัตยกรรม โดยใช้ภาษารูปทรงและแสงที่สะท้อนรากฐานทางวัฒนธรรม ตามแนวคิดของเซมเปอร์
บทความนี้เสนอว่า “หลักการห้าประการ” ของเลอ กอร์บูซิเย อาทิ เสาลอย ผังอิสระ หน้าต่างแนวนอน ผนังอิสระ และสวนดาดฟ้า มิได้เป็นเพียงการแสดงออกในเชิงกายภาพ แต่เป็นการ “ตีความหลักการดั้งเดิม” ในกรอบของสังคมอุตสาหกรรม การแปลงแนวคิดเรื่องฐานราก (ฐาน/เสา) การปิดล้อม (ผนัง/หน้าต่าง) หรือแม้แต่การรวมศูนย์ (เตาไฟ) ถูกแปรความในฐานะการสร้างภาษาสถาปัตยกรรมใหม่ที่ยังคงเชื่อมโยงกับรากวัฒนธรรมอย่างแนบแน่น การศึกษานี้จึงชี้ให้เห็นว่าแนวคิดเรื่องประเภท (Typology) ยังคงมีความสำคัญต่อการทำความเข้าใจการออกแบบร่วมสมัย โดยเฉพาะในแง่ของการสังเคราะห์ระหว่างอดีต ปัจจุบัน และเทคโนโลยีการผลิตที่เปลี่ยนไป
โดยสรุป บทความนี้เสนอกรอบการวิเคราะห์เชิงแนวคิดที่อ่าน “ร่องรอยของรูปแบบ” (Traces of Type) ผ่านการเปรียบเทียบระหว่างทฤษฎีดั้งเดิมกับงานสถาปัตยกรรมของเลอ กอร์บูซิเย เพื่อชี้ให้เห็นว่าการพัฒนาแนวคิดสถาปัตยกรรมในยุคสมัยใหม่มิได้เป็นการตัดขาดจากอดีต หากแต่เป็นการตีความใหม่ที่ซ้อนทับอยู่บนพื้นฐานเดิมอย่างลึกซึ้ง
