Military Leader Traits Affecting the Operation Effectiveness: A Case Study of Division 8, Armed Forces Security Center, Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the military leader traits and to study military leader traits of Division 8, Armed Forces Security Center, Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters that affecting the operation effectiveness. The population used in the research were 218 officers of Division 8, Armed Forces Security Center, Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters. Data collection from questionnaires consists of 3 parts: general information, Military leader traits and operation effectiveness. Data were analyze using descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation. Hypothesis testing was conducted by Factor analysis and Multiple regression analysis. The results of this research indicated that, 1. Officers of Division 8, Armed Forces Security Center, Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters agreed with the military leader traits with mean to 4.22. And 2. the effectiveness operation at the highest level with mean to 4.59. The results of Factor analysis revealed that there are 13 military leader traits. The highest level was loyalty with mean to 4.72 and the lowest level was sacrifice with mean to 3.95. The hypothesis testing by using multiple regression analysis found that the military leader traits that had a positive affecting the operation effectiveness of Division 8, Armed Forces Security Center, Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters were 5 traits. Those were 1. vision 2. dependability 3. knowledge and courage 4. accept cultural differences and 5. loyalty at significance level 0.05.
