Abstract

This article focuses on the idea of the Green New Deal which supports the drafting and formation of the UK’s public finances. It illustrates the increasing need in moving forward both in public and private sectors within and outside the financial services sector to change from the economic production that depends on energy produced from burning fossil fuels to expand green job opportunities. The GND suggests it is possible to expand employment by an additional 20 million jobs. Moreover, GND offers a path to create an equitable, sustainable mixed-economy society. However, the success of the GND will depend on continued and increasing investments and public finance of a transition to a green, low carbon economy and the role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in this transition.
