The Development of the Disaster Prevention Network in the Area of Nong-Plamor Sub-District Administrative Organization, Nong-Khae District, Saraburi Province

Abstract

The problems of the disaster prevention management at Nong-Plamor Sub-District Administrative Organization are occurred by various factors such as the lack of efficient equipment and up-to-date technology to forecast the disasters, and the officers’ lack of knowledge of public disasters. The organization also has had problems with the communication system, the disaster publicizing, notification and announcement from the government offices, and the lack of an adequate disaster notification system in the local community. According to the mentioned necessities and issues, the researcher conducted this study with the objectives including 1) to investigate the level of participation in the disasters prevention of the people living in the area of the Nong-Plamor Sub-District Administrative Organization; 2) to study the readiness on the disasters prevention in the area and 3) to study the guideline on the development of the disaster prevention network. This mixed-methods research study employed a questionnaire and a focus group interview as the research tools. The statistics used to analyze the data were mean and standard deviation. The content analysis was employed to analyze the data. The results revealed that 1) the level of people’s participation in the disaster prevention in Nong-Plamor Sub-District Administrative Organization, Nong-Khae District, Saraburi, was – overall – at a moderate level; 2) the level of readiness for the disaster prevention in the area, in overall, was at a high level and 3) for the guideline on the development of the disaster prevention network, it could be concluded as the following aspects; 1) assigning the committee of the disaster prevention network and 2) promoting and supporting the co-operations of the network.
