People’s expectations of local politicians in a subdistrict administrative organization

Abstract

PURPOSES: To study people’s expectations of local politicians and to compare the people's expectations of local politicians classified by socio-economic background variables. METHODS: Sample survey of 305 people in the Khao Din Phatthana Subdistrict Administrative, Organization, Chaloem Phra Kiat District, Saraburi Province using the questionnaire as a data collection tool. RESULTS: People’s expectations of local politicians at the overall level was at a high level as follows : Morality and ethics, personality, knowledge and abilities, and social aspects respectively. The results of the hypothesis testing revealed that the level of expectations of the people classified by gender, age, level of education, occupation, and monthly income were not significantly different at p = 0.05. THEORY/POLICY IMPLICATIONS: Local politicians particularly in the Khao Din Phatthana Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Chaloem Phra Kiat District, Saraburi Province should increase  participation with local people, accept different opinions, and devote themselves to society to gain more acceptance from the people and create a better society.
