Effects of the K-shape program on the improvement of health literacy and physical activities among employees

PURPOSES: To study the effects of the K-shape program on the improvement of health literacy and physical activities among employees in a private organization. METHODS: Action research, sample groups including 156 employees in 4 companies for 6 months. The program consisted of 5 activities, 1) understanding the process, 2) leader skills development, 3) organizing activities in company, 4) follow up & coaching, and 5) evaluation & summary. Data were collected before and after the program by using the questionnaire, and analyzed by descriptive statistics, and t-test. RESULTS: After the program, the sample group had higher health literacy and physical activities than baseline significantly (P < 0.05). THEORETICAL/POLICY IMPLICATIONS: The principles of health literacy could help improve the essential skills and physical activity of employees. Continuous practices could enhance physical strength for work and health as well in the long run.
